This event celebrates American Latino theater’s diversity, creativity, and vitality on the East and West Coasts. A conversation with renowned artist Marcos Martinez moderated by Dr. Lizbeth De La Cruz Santana. Drawing from his own experiences and insights, Martinez delves into the unique challenges andtriumphs Latino theater artists face, representation, and the shifting terrain in fighting discrimination.
The conversation is followed by a screening of Lo que no se dice / What is Unspoken,” a film on gentrification.
Regarding the director or directors:
Marcos Martinez has acted professionally in film, television, and the contemporary and classical stage in the US and abroad. He co-founded La Compañía de Teatro de Alburquerque in 1979 with Jose Rodriguez andother actors, and later served as artistic director for three years 1988- 91. He holds an MA from the University of New Mexico and is a graduate of the Juilliard School’s Drama Division (Group 12).
