Synopsis

Southern Eyes: Argentine Filmmakers, Artists & Creators Living in NYC. Featuring Pepita Sandwich, Inés Vogelfang, Ana Minujin, Natacha Voliakovsky, and Carlos Ledesma. Each filmmaker/artist/creator will be in attendance, will introduce their respective pieces, and will stay for a short Q&A at the end of the screening.

Regarding the director or directors

Pepita Sandwich is an illustrator who creates visual essays for media outlets like The Washington Post and The New Yorker. She has also been commissioned to do illustrated and animated pieces for a variety of brands that include Motorola, Facebook, Cartoon Network, Kellogg’s, and Spotify.

Inés Vogelfang is a filmmaker & editor whose work has been screened at Sundance Film Festival, Hamptons Film Festival, Big Sky, DOC NYC, and Venice Film Festival. The Art of Making It, a feature documentary she co-edited, won an audience award at SXSW 2022.

Ana Minujin is an audiovisual artist, producer, and curator. Her artistic work usually revolves around interpersonal relationships and the notions of love, faith, and solitude.

Natacha Voliakovsky is an artist who uses performance as a vehicle for her message. Voliakovsky’s work is profoundly related to the South American context and its diaspora’s fight towards social change.

Carlos Ledesma is a filmmaker whose short films have been official selections in numerous international film festivals. He’s also an Emmy nominated producer as well as a musician.

Flavio Florencio, Argentinian filmmaker, producer,  writer, and TV host based in Mexico City and NY.  After his critically-acclaimed documentary feature debut, “Made in Bangkok.” he was listed as a ‘Mexican Filmmaker on the Rise’ by Variety. He has directed and participated in a considerable number of documentaries for various NGOs and collaborated with internationals organization like the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the United Nations in New York.  In TV he created a VICE series about the transgender community in Mexico and recently directed a six-episode documentary series for Televisa-Univisión about the Mexican idol, Juan Gabriel.
