Les Bonnes

The Maids by Jean Genet

Claire and Solange are two sisters who work as maids for a lady of the French gentry, with whom they have a tense and distant relationship.

When Madame is absent, the two of them engage in a game of impersonation in which they exchange roles and take on the character of their mistress, thus embodying the character of their mistress, thus entering into a metatheatricality.

In these games we see the conflicting feelings of both of them towards the mistress: love and admiration, envy and hatred to the limit. Their objective is to murder her mistress.

It is a play that remains relevant today, portraying the miseries of an unequal society. through these maids and the mistress.

Les Bonnes is a mise-en-scène to immerse oneself into the characters and be taken through a staging full of visual and sound surprises.
