Havana Syndrome by Cristina Luzárraga

Cristina Luzarraga (Playwright)  is a playwright from New Jersey whose plays include Critical Distance, Millennialville, and La Mujer Barbuda (2018 Screencraft Stage Play Winner and Princess Grace Award Finalist). An alum of The Second City Conservatory in Chicago and Ensemble Studio Theatre’s Youngblood collective, she is a 2019-2020 Jerome Fellow at the Playwrights’ Center in Minneapolis. Her work has been developed with PlayMakers Repertory Company, IATI Theater, Tantrum Theater, The New Colony, and Chicago Dramatists, and her short plays are published in anthologies by Smith and Kraus. She holds a BA from Princeton and an MFA from Ohio University.

Kathleen Capdesuñer (Director) is a director, theatre-maker, and artistic leader currently based in NYC. She is a 2019/20 The Civilians’ R&D Group Director, 2019/20 Manhattan Theatre Club Directing Fellow,  2018/2019 Roundabout Directing Fellow, 2017/18 McCarter Theatre Center Directing Apprentice, Latinx Theatre Commons Steering Committee Member, and The COOP Youth Advisory Board Member. Kathleen has developed work at: Roundabout Theatre Company, American Lore Theatre, Columbia/Signature, Ensemble Studio Theatre, PlayxPlay, McCarter Theatre Center, Plaxhall Gallery, and internationally in the Fringe Festival circuit. Amanda Holtzman (Stage Manager) is so excited to be a part of this reading with LATEA! She was most recently the stage management intern for Wicked on Broadway and prior to that she was the assistant stage manager for the Off-Broadway musical, The Book of Merman. Before moving to New York, she worked in the Miami theatre district where she was assistant stage manager for Summer Shorts! and stage manager for Shorts Gone Wild. She is a graduate of Nova Southeastern University and would like to thank her family and friends for their support! 

Ambar Colón Fargas (Stage Directions Reader) is an emerging artist from Carolina, Puerto Rico. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Theater in 2017 from the Universidad del Sagrado Corazon in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Now settled in New York, she has worked with Teatro SEA and has continued her professional development completing their Technical Training Program. Ambar is also passionate about social causes and civic engagement, and she currently works as the Program Manager at People’s Theater Project. 

Brendan George (JEFF) is a NYC-based actor/comedian who loves new work! He last starred in the world premiere of The Crisis Actor, which will revive for a limited engagement run this winter. Other NY and regional credits include Bleach (U.S. premiere, Wilson Lounge), What Is Your Name??? (24 Hour Plays: Nationals), No Sympathy For The Wolf (FringeNYC), Reverse Transcription (Williamstown Theatre Festival), and Sometimes the Rain… (Sock & Buskin).
