CORRETJER

CORRETJER: Un boricua en la luna, con los pies en la patria

An Immersive Theatrical Experience Written and Performed by Ángel Vázquez

Directed by Julio Ramos

What does it mean to love a homeland so deeply that you are willing to sacrifice everything for it?

This monologue is an immersive theatrical journey into the life, poetry, love, and revolutionary spirit of Juan Antonio Corretjer, one of Puerto Rico’s most influential poets and independence advocates.

Through powerful storytelling, poetry, music, historical memory, and theatrical imagery, Ángel Vázquez brings Corretjer to life—not simply as a poet, but as a man who dared to challenge colonial power, endure imprisonment and persecution, and remain unwavering in his commitment to Puerto Rico’s freedom.
